Orange-breasted Trogon (Harpactes oreskios) 26.5 - 31.5 cm

Location: Gunung Telapa Buruk, NS.

After approximately 1 hr and 45 mins drive along the south bound highway and the new highway leading towards Jelebu and K Pilah we arrived at the foothill of our destination. Some of us alighted  from our cars to carpool with others to commence the steep terrain and narrow road drive up Gunung Telapa Buruk which is about 1193 meters above sea level at the top.

Three quarter way up thick blankets of the early morning mist greeted us. We decided not to proceed further but to start our birding downhill by foot from this point. All in all no fewer than 37 species of birds were sighted or their calls heard during this trip.
More important is the friendship built with new members and the catching up with old friends which capped the day. The photos of the Orange-breasted Trogon below was the climax and also end the half day's birding trip. The other highlight of this trip was the sighting of an Asian Paradise Flycatcher (long tail male with dark morp). A lifer for me!

Have an eventful day! Cheers!
