This morning 11th June 2017 @ Taman Rimba Kiara, TTDI, KL. White-thighed Surili (Presbytis siamensis). It is classified in the IUCN Red List as NT or Near Threatened. Observed 3 individuals, possible a family of 2 adults and a juvenile. The last time I saw this species was some years ago in Bkt. Kiara itself and also at the back of Wisma Bakti. A very good reason to highlight the importance of Bkt Kiara and the surrounding forest and parks as a conservation site for this species of primate. Unlike the Long-tailed Macaques it is not normal for these 'shy' primates to visit public parks. A possible reason could be a lack of food source in Bkt Kiara which made it necessary for them to venture out of the safety of the forest to an open park in search of food. The three were observed feeding, but only just briefly.
